Review on Club W and The 2013 Pregame Red Blend

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. I received a coupon with my Influenster Box and chose to use the deal provided. Now lets get to the review!

First I will say I am in no way a wine excerpt. I like to experiment with wine to see what I like. I was a bit hesitant to use the Club W coupon, but I thought to myself “why not, treat yo self” (plus I just got my tax refund). When I got to the site I was promoted to login and take a test since I was a new person. I found the quiz to be fun and easy to answer, with questions that were easy and understandable. Questions like “How do you like you coffee?” and “How much to you love berries?”. I didn’t understand what it had to do with wine, but I was happy to see the quiz took a high interest in my taste of food.

After the short quiz I was shown 3 wines (2 red and 1 white), that they thought would fit my tastes given my test results. I was a little concerned about the reds, just because my experience with reds has not been that great. But I figured I would give it a chance. These people had a bigger understanding of wines then I did, so I put my trust full in and ordered the recommended wine.

Remarkably the wine showed up about 3 to 4 days later. This was from California and I’m in Michigan. I was really surprised and pleased with the fast service.

The wine came in a nice box with a handle, it would make a great storage container. I gifted it to my sister to use for her boots or something. Just a idea for you all.

I received Pregame (red), Full Sleeve (red), and Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy (white). Frankly I’m pretty excited to try the lemon one.

Each wine came with a index card with stats and information, plus a recipe and other food pairings on the back. I really like the index cards, as someone who is a wine noob it’s super helpful to have a card telling you how to drink the wine. For example Pregame is to be drank at room temperature, I wouldn’t have known that! I usually drink my wine cold, but I wanted to give this a shot. After all it was a red wine, I wanted to drink it the way it was intended to get the full experience.

Now one reason I picked this wine first was because it had a simple popcorn recipe on the back and was good with snack foods. Things like chex mix, chips and salsa, and goldfish crackers. I was already visiting my mom and sister to go gift shopping, so a nice wine tasting would be fun afterwards. Plus I had all the stuff to make the popcorn.

So lets pour some glasses, make some popcorn and give some options!

My sister works at Olive Garden so she’s a pro a pouring wine.

Now the results!

Christina says: This would be great to make sangria’s with and that it has a nice tangy flavor. It’s a wine that is nice to drink slowly, since it’s already had room temp you don’t have to worry about it getting warm.

Mom says: It’s a nice dry wine and would be good to give to friends and to have with dinner.

I say: This wine tastes like most reds (remember I’m not a pro wine taster), but is softer and easy to drink with snacks. The popcorn pairing doesn’t make the wine tastes bad, and the Earth Balance Vegan Cheddar Flavor Squares go good with it as well.

I’m used to red wine being very sharp and acidic, and I usually would not be able to eat food with my red wines. But this wine didn’t start to taste bad when I tried it with the pairing snacks. I like the it wasn’t as sharp, that made it easier for me to enjoy. Plus the fact that it was at room temperature was nice, I could drink it slow and not worry about it getting warm and gross. I would definitely drink this wine again, and I would say it would make a great gift for someone new to wine.

Club W, I would say is a great resource for people new to wine. Take the quiz and let people good with wine pick out what is good for your tastes. I would have probably spent forever in the large wine section at my grocery store, wasting money on bad red wines before ever finding one I liked.

I personally invite you to try out this website for yourself.
