My first project for my Independent Study (Traditional Media) art class was to do a self portrait. But it was a symbolistic one. Teacher said it didn't even need to have us in it, just had to represent us. I found this very tricky, seeing as I view myself in a number of extremely different ways. So after 3 sketches I finally came up with something!
Getting ready to paint! |
Half way! |
I took a picture of myself as reference for the head. And used masking fluid to keep the head white. While using my lazy way of painting (which is my fav!) Just get lots of paint, lots of water and let it flow.

Close up |
- Dark Background.
- My love of horror, and disgusting things. I love twisted monsters, horrible disfiguring diseases. Things of that nature.
- Bright Foreground
- I'm generally a pretty awesome person. lol jk jk. But I am nice and sweet and I generally do good things. I'm loud and excitable! I like candy and kittens and cute crap from japan. lol I'm a girly girl at heart. <3
- White Dots
- Those are my little explosions of joy! lol Some of the dots and circles aren't perfect because well I'm not perfect.
- Gold Dots
- Those represent my silver lining, expect it's gold. lol I always was a "glass half full" type person. And I hope with me being the way I am, it will rub off on people and they'll start thinking more positively. The world is full of enough negative things. I wait people to see that there can be positive outlooks in the biggest of mistakes.
So yea that's my painting. Hope you all like it.
