My Hair Journey

I was never raised going to the salon every couple months. That was not the family I was raised in. We would go down the street to the neighbor lady and she would cut our hair. Mostly trim it, or mom would do it. Every time we did go to a salon they would mess it up. You can guess how that left a impression on me growing up. And then I went to college! I went to one salon during that time and I asked for a short bob type hair style…… well she ended up giving me a super short cut. I didn’t hate it… but it wasn’t what I asked for. So after I graduated, and moved back home and got a job. I made my hair a priority! Stylist and Place of business will be mentioned at the end.

Feb 23, 2013
This was February 23rd, 2013, I typically didn’t do a lot with my hair at that time. No heat tools (what are those?) or product (How do you us that?). Pretty much just put my hair in braid to make it wavy or did nothing with it. Pretty much my hair has been free of most hair product and tools for a good part of my life. Which ended up being a good thing in the end!

At this time I got in touch with a family friend who styled my hair for school dances while she was in beauty school. I told her I wanted to start over and I knew I had lots of dead ends. I’m fearless with it comes to hair. It will always grow back!

After it being cut, I wanted to grow it out again. So I got a little trim to keep the ends nice and decided I wanted to try going blonde. So she added a tiny bit of highlights, going slow with the blonde would do less damage to my fine hair.

And then we added a little more.

And then we added a lot!

March 3, 2015 (and yes I did get new glasses!)
And then after a while I was thinking of going platinum blonde, but started to notice how fragile my hair was. Then around the same time I say a awesome picture of hair that I just had to do! Luckily my hair stylist is as fearless as I am! My current hair style is blonde and black with tiny hints of dark navy blue. I absolutely love it!

I wonder what I will do next!?!

My hair lady’s name is Christine Fitzpatrick. She’s won awards for The Knot 3 years in a row! She works out of the Beauty Collective in Birmingham, Michigan. But also does freelance work out of New Orleans, Louisiana. If you would like to see what she can do for you, please check out her website!!
