DIY Push Pin Boards and Random Other Things

So since the holidays are now over (thank goodness) I can show you guys how I made my dad's gift. He really wanted push pin boards for his Tigers Room, but he also wanted them to be Tiger's themed. I was going to do it all easy and just glue fabric to it, but I COULD NOT find any Tigers themed fabric that wasn't fleece. I did happen to come cotton fabric but it was on ebay and stupid expensive. So I decided to try out spray paint, the stencil way. And I did all this just with buying the paint. I had the paper and pin boards on hand already.

So this project was filled with lots of learning experiences, because I have never done this before and I didn't look up any tutorials.... which I should of done. The boards I used were mine from a long while ago, and dad had gave me this super thick brown paper; also a very long time ago. Just tape down the paper and start drawing on you design. In this case I was doing the Detroit D, and the fancy Tigers writing.

I remember learning about graffiti artists in college that used this technique but of course I never looked into it, and also learning about it in a a video game... probably only remembered it because the the controller sounded like you were shaking a paint can when you shook it.

Next I started to cut the shapes out, cut my finger a couple times. But the blade was super dull, so fingers were saved!

I used more duct tape to keep the small pieces of paper in place. Then I took them out back to spray paint.

This is also when I decided to sit and rock on the old tree swing with my coffee, and then my big fat butt broke it. Sending me and my hot coffee to the ground, leaving a nice big bruise.

All done! I think I did pretty good for my first try and I like the drippy look. What I didn't relies was all the tape I put under the paper would leave clear blue untouched parts. I also didn't think the paint would mist that much under the paper. But all in all I think I did good, I even got some baseball pins for him to use!

Now for some random stuff!

That chore thing I did a couple weeks back, well it's working on and off. Somedays it's just to much to do and some days I can only do 3 things. It's tough when there's 5 people in the house and you're the only one with a cleaning OCD. But on some lucky days I get to check all the chores off the list and it feels so good. I feel so accomplished!

As for the Resolutions I mentioned a month or so ago, things are already getting a little rocky. The high fructose corn syrup thing is pretty easy to keep track of, and hasn't really stressed me out at all. I have started a "work pantry" at work. It's just a box with healthy snacks and quick lunches in case I don't have anything.

I haven't practiced my piano in a while, it takes a bit to set up. I have to use my coffee table as a stand and drag a lamp over so I can see, AND THEN bring a chair over to put my lap top on to play the DVD to help me learn. It's just a giant pain in the butt! NOT to mention I'm really shy when it comes to people seeing me do something I'm not good at. I can fake confidence all day, but I can't fake playing a piano. So it's become a chore, which is awful...

On the flip side I have started slowly working out. Just YouTubing some 5 min workouts and then me and a coworker joined a groupon for yoga for 6 months. SO hopefully I can kick my high school weight again and get back to my college weight.

Here's a random photo's my sister took before christmas.

Hope you all are having a great January! See you next time!
